Like engine oil, when it begins to turn color to not reddish but brownish it wearing out. Such a low cost way to maintain an expensive auto trans.

I don't know where the 60k miles came from. I doubt a dealership would recommend waiting that long, and most people say the code 3 comes up before 60k miles.
